AUGUST 2018, JACK NASH AND THE DALLAS SPIRITS WIN NTABL SPRING 2018 CHAMPIONSHIP

Jack Nash and the Dallas Spirits 45 Masters defeat the Caddo Reds in an epic championship game that ended with a walk off in extra innings.

The game was kept close through the 5th when the Reds became focused and started making contact at the plate. The Spirits had two outs and suffered a terrible call at first base earning the 3rd out, but not getting the call from the umpire who called the runner safe. Then came a popup to short right field where Jack Nash somehow get's to the ball only to have it hit his glove and fall to the turf giving the Reds runners at 1st & 3rd. The next Reds batter drops one into short left field to score the first run of the game and taking the lead, 1-0, over the Spirits.

The game remains 1-0 with Reds on top until the bottom of the 7th inning, where the Reds quickly get the first two outs and are preparing for a rare win over the Spirits to send the championship game to the second game, as the Reds needed to win two and the Spirits only needed to win one.

The Spirits potential last batter, Guy Koenig, gets up to the plate, facing two outs and nobody on, and after a few pitches drive the ball into right-center. A hard hit shot. The Reds center fielder makes the decision to go for the diving catch, rather than letting it drop in for a single, and misses the ball. The ball roles deep to the center field fence and the Spirits hitter is able to score to tie the game and send it to extra innings with the game tied 1-1. Unbelievable!

The Spirits take field in the top of the 8th inning and retire the next three Reds hitters. Then it starts, as it usually does with the Spirits offense. The Spirits lead off with Earl German who doubles to right-field. The Reds decide to intentionally walk Jack Nash in order to face Spirits hitter Mark Leemaster with runners on first and second. Earl German gets a jump at second base and steals third as Jack Nash follows his lead and steals second. All that is needed to win the game is a base hit, and Mark does not disappoint, driving the ball to short left field scoring Earl German for the win. A great game!

The Dallas Spirits win the championship and finish the season with a 20-1 record. A great season and a great championship game!
